Why should they sort them.
Siemens gives you the option to write on words/byte/bits and yes you can write even on a single bit in an assigned word. There are applications out there where it makes sence, so if you know what you are doing there is no reason for siemens to not let you do it ! Other Programming languages like Delphi or C++ are totally open in these things as well.
Both controllers have there pro and cons. From my experience I would say Siemens give you more options where AllenBradley gives you more safety in not making errors. I am personally write all my Siemens Stuff either in SCl or STL, and I do not like the way AB implemented the STL Language.
