Default Square D PLC

Unfamilar with Square D but required to troubleshoot an old system. Do advise on the below: PLEASE!! Thanks !!

Using SY/Max 400 seres CPU, going to CRM601 (Dual Interface convertor module) via RS422. CRM601 goes out to 3rd party server application via RS232.

Square D System Configuration on site:

One single rack:

slot 1: Sy/Max Class 8020 Model 400 Processor
slot 2 to 8 : I/O modules
slot 9: Sy/Max Class 8030 Type CRM-601 Dual Converter Module
(converts signals btwn RS422 and RS232 standards)

CPU halted, error is illegal memory. restarted the system and re-loaded backup. However, data out LED does not light up.No communications between CPU and 3rd party server application.

And CPU halted subsequently.

Have changed the cables. Used an isolated convertor and bypassed the CRM-601 (I supposed that it is ok to just convert the RS422 signal from CPU to RS232 and out to 3rd party application). There is still no communication with the 3rd party server application.

Any idea on how to troubleshoot?

I'm not sure about the squared plc (but I have reset a few square d breakers in my time), I would recommend replacing the entire system and letting me do the integration and programming. Please PM if you are interested.
