Where can I get parts in Seattle besides Radio Shack?

Does any one know where in Seattle to get cheap discrete parts &
components besides Radio Shack? I'm looking for stuff for projects like;
Resistors, Capacitors, Inductors, Transformers, Diodes, Transistors, IC's,
etc.

The selection at Radio Shack is to small and the parts they have are
relatively outrageously expensive. There used to be a shop here in town
called Radar Inc. but they moved way out to Redmond putting the price of
gas to get there into the mix. I tried Westlake Electronic but they told
me on the phone that there hesitant and unwilling to cater to the small
home electronics hobbyist any more.

Know of any surplus or inexpensive shops within Seattle? Any one feel
like opening a shop in Seattle?

Never heard of 'em. Are they any good? What are their hours, what's their

Don't know the hours but you'll find there phone number in the Seattle
Quest directory. Think of Radio Shacks components times a ten
thousand, a million might be an exaggeration . I discovered them in
an issue of Poptronics. They do not have a website for online sales
and I lost the web address with directions. Use Yahoo mapping to find
out how to get there. Prices are great. An employee joked as I
walked in "would you like a shopping basket cause you'll need it". I
did.

There's Fry's (not much in that respect, though), Radar
Electronics is in Bothell, and a mere shadow of their
former self.

There were Active Electronics and a surplus shop next to
each other in Bellevue; Active closed this year (2 days before
I went there, arggghhh!!); the other one supposedly moved,
but I couldn't find them. Anyone happen to know their new
address?

That's Vetco. Last I checked, (this spring), they're inside the Fred
Meyer store up on top of the hill. 148th NE and NE 20th (a.k.a. Northup
Way). Bellevue.

Another place that I haven't seen mentioned in these (multi-posted)
threads yet. House of Science, in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle,
is supposed to be (according to a thread in rec.radio.amateur.homebrew)
a spin off from the Radar move. At NW 8th and 49th NW.

I've not been there yet, but it was written up in a Seattle Times
article (featuring a picture of newsgroup regular Bill Beatty) on the
local extreme science group. (Bloody idiots. They make you register
for searches now. So I don't want to spend the time to dig up a URL
that people can't get to without jumping through the hoops). Anyway,
it should be in the Local News section on Sept 13, 2003, if anybody

The "other one" was Vetco. New address is just down the street in the Fred
Meyer's.

I just visited Fry's today. They have an incredible selection of
components. A little pricey though.
