Default Using excel in place of the HMI

Hi All

I am fairly new to the programming environment, & seriously want to pick up some of the tricks of the trade. I was recently on a project, where there was also another programming engineer from another company on site, commissioning his kit. I noticed that the Panelview had gone down, & temporarily, he was using MS Excel in place of the now absent panelview. The exact graphics were laid out on the Excel sheet, & he was just using his mouse to activate the buttons. He was reluctant to tell me how to do it, which is why I am here, amongst other things. If anyone has heard of this being done before, could you possibly give me some tips as to how to get started on it, as I feel that it is a useful tool to have, while waiting for the new Panelview to arrive heheh..

Thanks
Lee
